Below are some examples of energizer installations to provide some security from tampering or theft. The Energizers will operate in the range -15oC to +60oC, but batteries will not operate if the water is frozen. In the Andes in Peru, batteries have been successfully buried to below 30 cm from the ground surface. This can also be a useful approach for security. The S17 in-built solar unit has a special gel battery and is rated to perform to - 15oC. Example 1.
Run the fence to provide an electrified enclosure and use high voltage warning signs. Example 2.

In extreme conditions, the battery would have to be buried 30 cm below the soil surface
